The Importance of Israel

Filed under: Uncategorized — Jeremy @ 5:26 pm

Israel is, and always has been, God’s covenant people. We cannot understand God’s purposes for our own nation or the nations of the world outside of God’s plans and purposes for Israel. Paul refers to the ‘mystery of Israel’ in the book of Romans and indeed many people are put off praying for Israel as they don’t understand God’s plans for the nation. Still worse, many parts of the Church have taught for centuries that God has rejected the Jews and now the Church has replaced them.

In Psalm 122 v.6 God commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. In Genesis 12 v.3 God made a promise to Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel, that he will “bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse”. The Church today has a choice whether it wants to receive that blessing or not. It’s a promise from God that we will be blessed if we bless Israel!
